Question
How often do I water the roses? When the soil feels dry? I don’t want to overwater. Also, I am going to plant it in a pot. Is that okay?
Answer
If the roses are newly planted, you’ll want to be sure they’re watered in well. In the first year, you’ll want to keep the soil evenly moist with some additional watering as needed. A good, long soak every few days is better than a bit of water daily. And then once they’re established they won’t need a ton of additional water, especially in Minnesota. If the ground does start to get a bit dry, give them a good soaking but otherwise they should be ok! Roses are fantastic in containers, but you’ll want to double check the soil more regularly to be sure it doesn’t dry out.
