Question
I purchased Coral Magic Crape Myrtles, should I put them in the ground now or keep them potted until next year. If wait, when should I put them in the ground?
Answer
I would recommend planting in the ground soon, just so they have time to settle and establish new roots before winter. Unless, of course, you have other reasons to wait such as creating a new spot to plant them or wanting to enjoy them in a container first, which is just fine. I would not recommend trying to keep them in a pot through the winter, however, just in case those temps get too low. We don’t want those roots to freeze and injure the plant.
