Question

It just snowed 6” on my Easy Elegance Rose bush. Was I supposed to cut back, cover or remove from the ground for winter?

Answer

It’s going to be ok! Snow is a good insulator and helps protect the roots while also providing some moisture when it melts. Generally, plants overwinter best with a good soaking in the fall and then a layer of mulch at the base. Do this as soon as weather permits. Hold off on pruning until early spring so you don’t risk damaging the stems due to frost. Our rose planting and care guide has additional information on overwintering and spring care.
