Question

My plant is mostly sticks with little greenery. What should I do?

Answer

Carefully trim off the tops of the overwintered branches to the base of the shrub. And, give it a slow release fertilizer to help promote new growth. One that is high in nitrogen will help grow leaves. A fertilizer that is high in phosphorous, the middle number on the NPK ratio, will help it grow flowers. And, take a look our 5 garden preparations guide for help with protecting your plant this winter. This will help minimize the winter dieback.
