Question
What is a good shrub to plant now in mid-June when temps are in the 70s to 90? Morning sun, afternoon shade.
Answer
It depends! Do you have a particular mature size in mind? I would probably lean towards ones that really lot it hot such as hibiscus shrubs and crapemyrtles. Ninebark is a good choice as it is hardy plant with colorful foliage. Be certain to explore all our shrub options for zone 6 gardens. And, check out our planting and care guide as soil preparation and watering will be very important with new plantings in hotter months.
