The only place where they might struggle is on the west side. The hot, afternoon sun can be brutal. Light-O-Day would be best planted on the east side to protect the variegated foliage. The only thing to watch for with hydrangeas on the south side is to make certain that you water deeply the first couple of years to grow good roots and get them established.
