Question

I JUST BOUGHT A SUMMER CRUSH HYDRANGEA AND IT IS BLOOMING PINK. HOW DO I GET THE RASPBERRY COLOR AS SHOWN ON THE CARD WITH IT?

Answer

It’s fun playing with the color of the flowers on hydrangeas such as Summer Crush. Generally, in more alkaline soil (higher pH) the flowers will be pink. Adjust the acidity of the soil (lower pH) and add aluminum sulfate, and flowers turn blue. Take a look at my video on hydrangea soil science to learn the science behind the magic and get tips on adjusting soil amendments to get the color you want.
