I bought a crabapple tree about two weeks ago and it has still to show any new growth. How long does it take to show any and how do I know it is actually healthy?

My five Sapphire Surf Bluebeard plants, recently purchased and planted, are not greening fast. There appears to be dry or dead branches on many. The local retailer advised me to cut them down and allow them to grow new branches.

What shade loving plants besides hostas will tolerate dry, heavy clay soil?

I just purchased your Campfire Roses and when I got ready to plant the top 2 inches or so in the pot is covered with shelled hazelnut shells. Do I plant these or remove them at planting time? If I leave them in place, do I cover them with dirt? Thanks!

On the west side of my house there is about a 6ft wide path between my house and the fence. We are putting in a 4ft wide interlock walkway and there will be a foot and a half space between the house to the interlock that will be soil and we’d like to plant something. Zone 5. Is this enough room to put any type of hydrangea? I love the colors.

I NEEDED TO REMOVE TWO LARGE PURPLE-LEAVED BUSHES FROM ALONG THE WALL OF THE SOUTHERN FACING SIDE OF OUR HOME. THEY WERE PLANTED ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF A LARGE SILVER-LEAVED WHITE POM POM BUSH. THE REMOVED DYING BUSHES WERE APPROXIMATELY 10 ‘ TALL AND 15’ WIDE. I’D LIKE TO REPLACE THEM WITH SOME TYPE OF SHORT EVERGREEN PAIRED WITH SPRING/SUMMER LONG BLOOMERS. I HAVE IRIS, PEONIES, AND HOSTA PLANTED ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE GARDEN. ROSES DO NOT DO WELL FOR ME. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!

MY NEW REDBUD AND CRIMSON PEAK JAPANESE MAPLE TREES WERE AFFECTED BY FROST TWO WEEKS AGO. ALL THE NEW LEAVES AND BRANCHES WHERE DAMAGED. WHAT SHOULD I DO? WILL BOTH TREES RECOVER? SHOULD I FERTILIZE? IF SO, WHAT IS SAFE TO USE??
