Question

CAN I PLANT MY PLANTS IN JUST DIRT?

Answer

That’s a really good question. There’s all different approaches to gardening and that’s ok. Some want to learn about the soil science behind growing plants and others just want to plant something in the ground and see what happens. If you take that approach, you will probably have success with some plants and learn other plants can be fussy. When planting flowers or shrubs in a container, it’s best to use a potting mix rather than dirt from the yard – check out our container gardening tips. There’s more flexibility when planting in the ground. As long as your dirt isn’t heavy clay, go ahead and give it a try.
