Question

Could you please let me know if I can grow hydrangeas in south florida? I loved them when I was in CT but do not know in South Florida.

Answer

The Miami area is not the ideal climate for hydrangeas to grow year-after-year, as they need a certain number of days below 40 in order to bloom again. That said, you can always grow hydrangeas in containers throughout the growing season so you can have that nostalgic Connecticut bloom. Just be sure to shade it from the afternoon sun and keep the pot watered so the soil is evenly moist.
