Question
I was given a lovely Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea and the leaves are turning yellow. I read that watering on top can make that happen. I checked the soil and it’s good and have mixed in some food. What am I doing wrong?
Answer
Going from a garden center to a new home can cause stress to plants. A change in watering schedules often shows up in yellow foliage. Have you already planted your hydrangea in the garden? Our planting and care guide has great tips on site selection, soil preparation, watering, and mulching. Avoid giving your hydrangea any more fertilizer this year as you don’t want to encourage new growth going into fall and winter. It will be important to prepare the hydrangea for winter.
