Question

I have my hydrangeas in pots and am moving in October. Is that too late to plant them in the ground at my new home? Would it be better to keep them inside the house, basement or garage for the winter and plant in the spring?

Answer

Fall is a great time to plant! It will be important to follow the steps in our hydrangea planting and care guide – especially, the sections on soil preparation and planting. Once planted, be certain to water well and mulch for winter protection. For additional information on overwintering hydrangeas, take at look at this resource. Winter watering will be important to keep the roots healthy and our guide has information on how much water and how often. Congratulations on your new home!
