Question
I received hydrangea this past spring for my birthday in May. Do I need to cover it for the winter?
Answer
Is your hydrangea planted in the ground or in a container? If it is in a container, put the hydrangea in a garage or basement to overwinter and water occasionally during the winter. As spring approaches, take a look at the Endless Summer container gardening guide for tips on fertilizing. If it is in the ground, be certain to give your hydrangea a good soaking and then mulch well. My video gives guidelines to follow for winter protection including how to mulch.
