Just like people, plants can get stressed when the temperature fluctuates back and forth between cold and warm. If your hydrangea tree has leaves and a freeze is coming, you can cover it with a sheet overnight. Be certain to remove the sheet the next day when the temperature warms up. If the leaves get nipped by a frost, chances are your tree will grow new leaves when the weather settles down. Did you have problems with buds falling off last year?
